An approved change order does not stop at a PDF. Add it to the contract and it appears under Contract Changes with its date and cost, so the Contract Sum to Date includes it. What you bill against is what the owner agreed to, without retyping figures into a spreadsheet, and the change keeps its pricing history beside it.
